The Zoo

Today is cold cloudy with a slight drizzle of rain. With that in mind even we decided the zoo would be fairly empty. It was great we all put on our jackets and headed out. As we perdicted the zoo was empty. We didn't have to wait to see any of the exhibits and the animals we more active then I have ever seen. Brian really enjoyed the grizzly bear. I couldn't believe how big it's head was! He walked down to the river in his exhibit and tried to pull a small log or large stick out of the water. After not succeeding he went in for a swim and then out of no where attacked the log! It was exciting to him so active! There were so many animals there and they were all visible to the eye! It sure was fun. Alek not only enjoyed the animals but he smiled and yelled hi people to everyone who walked past us. It is something we will do again! I am no longer against zoo days in the fall

Science Museum

Saturday we decided to get out of the house and went to the museum. It was enjoyable to the whole family. Alek couldn't contain his excitement as we were walking in he yelled Yeah and about scared a middle aged woman to death. We took him to the starlight show that capture his interests for sometime until he had the sudden urge to use the bathroom and let everyone know that he needed to. We played boats in a wooden box full of water. That was cut short when Alek filled his boat with water and "bombed" and hit a unsuspecting little kid. They had plenty on hands on experiments that engaged both Alek and Dad's interest. I am not sure who was having more fun. We spent more time there then I would have thought possible. Brian got lost and I had to ask a guy twice my size in height to check the bathrooms all the while a tired Alek was screaming because he was worn out and Mom took the stroller away because he kept saying crash into people and trying to mow them down. All in all Brian wasn't in the water closet and we eventually found him. They also had a giant tree house about 700-1000 feet high with a slide that was just as long. Alek went down twice and the second time stare death in the face when a rolly polly girl clobbered him half way down the slide. She just couldn't wait until he was at the bottom before she decide to let her weight take her 100 mph down the slide. (Clearly I am bitter still because I told her he was on there more then 5 times and she looked at me but went anyway) Alek got over fast when he saw the hot air balloon. That was one of hid favorites. You pushed a button and fire would turn on and the balloon would float up to the ceiling. He had shrills of delight! It was fun to see my "two" kids have so much fun!

New apartment

Yesterday Alek and I borrowed the ugly PT Cruiser that the apartments have for their renters. (The only thing good thing the complex has to offer the car and part of the staff) We went for a drive which started out as exploring then turned into apartment searching. I felt so dirty looking at other apartment in their car which has their name in bold lettering on the back window. We have found one 40 minutes from where we are now. It is a nicer drive for Brian and other FAA trainees live there so he can carpool and Alek and I will be able to occasionally have a car. It is on a golf course which looks pretty and Alek will love since he is the only one of us who is a die hard golf fan. (He insists on watching it before bed each night) We both were impressed with the conditions but may still look just to be sure. We are thrilled to be getting out of the third world living conditions! And having the luxury of taking our shoes off while in our home. Wednesday is the day we are scheduled to move and we are ecstatic.

Invasion of the earthworms

Who ever thought that the worms would rebel against nature and try to attack. The have begun the invasion in our room. Thankfully we are winning the war. Our injuries consist of dirty feet. Those little buggers blend in with the carpet and sneak up on our feet. This is the last straw for us and our new apartment.

Sad to report I have wonderful pictures of our adventure and I wont be able to put them on this computer. So pictures will come late January.

The Ducks

Yesterday Alek and I decided to feed the ducks and geese. It was frighting to have birds be so bold and aggressive. Alek was bit by a duck who was trying to take the food from his hand before he even had a chance to throw it to them. He had the look of betrayal in his eyes. The geese hissed at us if we weren't throwing food fast enough. It got a bit exciting and we retreated to our apartment. Only to look back as see the whole flock of them were following us. I closed the door and not more then 1 minute later I heard tapping at our back door and to our surprise...it was one of the duck from the other day. While the other stayed by our front door he went in for the kill at the back. Alek and I closed the blinds and hid.

Oklahoma arrival

Today we arrived at our "new" home. It has been one exciting day. First off we started with an apartment the was next to the busy street when we were promised one that over looked the lake (which is really a small pond) WE thought oh well and walked in. How lucky we were to have found unidentifiable brown schmere on the door frame of the master bedroom and crusty old boogers on the walls. It was our dream come true! Brian went to the office and had us moved. They moved us to a building that overlooks the lake, sadly we are on the backside and can't see it. Oh well! Later on we went to the store to purchase cleaning items since I have a phobia of germs and not only didn't I trust their cleaning after our experience with the first apartment, we were sticking to the floor like it was an old movie theatre. As we walked into our apartment our friend the duck decided to try and follow us in, and when we close the door on him he stare through the window at us until we fed him. while we fed him he called to his buddies and we had a duck party at our backdoor. I went to the store once more because a strange odor lingers in our apartment and was too strong to igmore. As I left the complex I notice that there was an abortion clinic across the street from us and people were everywhere protesting. I also decided to visit the local Family dollar store to return a mop we had bought earlier and then decided against. I swear that one of the people in there had a gun and at any moment was going to whip it out and rob the store or hold us all hostage! Later Brian spent time cleaning our bathroom which ended up flooding not more then 5 minutes after his through cleaning. Wow so finally we decide to try to relax with a movie and...no cables to hook up the dvd player. But other than all that we feel right at home!
